European Consumers Will Enjoy a Restyled Nissan LEAF

Here in the U.S., the Nissan LEAF has found great success as the industry's pioneering electric vehicle. While European consumers have also been enjoying the perks of driving an innovative LEAF for some time now, they're about to discover a whole new level of LEAF love.

Currently, the European LEAF looks identical to its American-based twin. Nissan officials however, recently announced that the automaker plans to restyle the EV overseas and tailor it specifically for European drivers. Colin Lawther, Vice President of Engineering for Nissan Europe, explains, "We'll fine-tune the car for the European customer from a design point of view."1

What exactly will the alterations entail? Designers say that they will spice up the exterior style to please European consumers' eyes as well as refine power and even extend the model's drive range. On top of exterior enhancements, Nissan will also lower the LEAF EV's cost. Currently, the model is shipped to Europe from the automaker's facility in Oppama, Japan. Soon, however, production will move to Sunderland, England and cut down the cost of creating the electric by almost a third.

As excited as Garland Nissan might be for our fellow European Nissan lovers, we're even more enthused to know that our own LEAF will start production in Smyrna, Tennessee come the end of the year. This means the model will be built alongside other popular new Nissan models such as the Nissan Altima and Nissan Pathfinder.

To learn more about the Nissan LEAF abroad or at home, feel free to stop by Garland Nissan and talk with one of our knowledgeable brand experts at 2507 Fort Campbell Blvd Hopkinsville, KY 42240. Whether it's finding you the right Nissan parts or providing information regarding any Nissan vehicle, we'd love to help in any way possible.
